This Cookie Policy explains how New Media Inc L.L.C-FZ ("New Media", "we", "us") uses cookies and similar technologies (collectively, "cookies") on newmediainc.io (the "Site"), what they do, the legal basis for their use, and the choices available to you. It supplements our Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. "Similar technologies" include browser localStorage, sessionStorage,IndexedDB, pixels, web beacons, and SDKs that can read or write data on your device. They let a site recognise your browser, remember preferences, secure sessions, and measure performance.
Cookies can be first-party (set by the site you are visiting) or third-party (set by another domain whose content is embedded). They can be session cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or persistent cookies (stored until they expire or you delete them).
2. Categories of cookies we use
We try to keep our use of cookies minimal. The Site currently uses only the following categories:
- Strictly necessary. Required for the Site and its forms to function — including security, load balancing, fraud and abuse prevention, and storing authentication state where you are signed in. These do not require consent under the ePrivacy Directive and UK PECR because they are essential to deliver a service you have requested.
- Preferences. Where applicable, remember choices you make such as region, language, or interface state. These improve experience but are not strictly required.
- Analytics (aggregate). If and when enabled, these help us understand how visitors use the Site in aggregate (pages viewed, referrers, approximate region) so we can improve content and performance. We configure analytics to minimise personal data (e.g. IP truncation) and do not use them for advertising. Non-essential analytics are set only where the law permits or where you have consented.
We do not use cookies for cross-site advertising, retargeting, profiling for marketing, or building behavioural advertising audiences, and we do not "sell" or "share" personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising as defined under U.S. state privacy laws.
3. Specific items we may set
The exact items set on your device vary by page and visit. Typical examples include:
- Supabase auth tokens — first-party browser localStorage entries used by our authentication provider to keep a signed-in session active and refresh it securely. Strictly necessary when you are authenticated.
- Security / anti-abuse cookies — short-lived first-party cookies used by our hosting and infrastructure providers to detect bots and protect form submissions. Strictly necessary.
- Embedded third-party content — pages that embed third-party content (e.g. YouTube videos, X posts, LinkedIn embeds) may cause that provider to set its own cookies when the embed loads. Those cookies are governed by the provider's own policies.
4. Third-party services
We rely on a small number of trusted service providers to operate the Site. They may set cookies or read device storage on our behalf, including: hosting and edge infrastructure, database and authentication (Supabase), and any analytics or email tooling we add. We require these providers to handle personal data under written contracts and confidentiality obligations. Their cookie practices are described in their own policies.
5. Legal basis (EEA / UK)
Where the GDPR, UK GDPR, and ePrivacy/PECR apply: strictly necessary cookies are set on the basis of our legitimate interest and the ePrivacy strictly-necessary exemption. Non-essential cookies (preferences, analytics, embedded third-party media) are set only with your consent, where consent is required. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing cookies in your browser and adjusting your settings.
6. Managing and disabling cookies
You can control cookies in several ways:
- Browser settings. Most browsers let you view, block, or delete cookies and clear local storage. Help pages: Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge.
- Do Not Track / Global Privacy Control. We do not currently use tracking cookies that respond to these signals, so they do not change what is set on the Site. Where required by law, we will honour recognised opt-out preference signals such as GPC.
- Mobile. On iOS and Android you can reset or limit advertising identifiers via device settings. We do not use such identifiers, but third-party embeds may.
Disabling strictly necessary cookies will break parts of the Site (for example, you may be unable to stay signed in or submit forms). Disabling non-essential cookies will not affect core functionality.
7. Retention
Session cookies are cleared automatically when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain until they expire or you delete them; typical lifetimes range from a few minutes (security) to up to 13 months (analytics). Auth tokens stored in localStorage are removed on sign-out or when you clear site data.
8. International transfers
Some of our service providers operate outside the EEA, UK, or your home jurisdiction. Where required, transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards described in our Privacy Policy.
9. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, regulation, the services we use, or our practices. The "Last updated" date above reflects the latest revision. Material changes will be highlighted on the Site.
